Project Description

Sharpening key skills in Woodwork & Carpentry Club!

Woodwork is a most ideal way of supporting children to work in their ‘zone of proximal development’.  What children can do and know is always being extended by the open-nature of woodworking requiring children to be problem-solvers. They often model what they see others doing and with guidance children get tremendous pleasure from being able to master new skills and achieve what they could not do previously.
Depending on the years this club is being offered to will depend on what materials they work with, some projects will be disassembled but pre cut and other projects can be cut, carved and sanded by the students themselves.

BENEFITS OF WOODWORK CLUB

Hand on creativity – carving, moulding, sculpting and painting!

This club promotes patience and creativity as we guide the children to create several different sculptures with wood, sculpting tools and more. Projects include furniture, toy models and more throughout the sessions. Crafty kids often laugh and express joy at the feelings, smells, and sounds that clay can make. Manipulating, and smoothing the wood can be also simple first lesson for children, following by assembling and painting to complete the design
